Ballet Class

My latest outfit is an outfit to wear to ballet class. I don't know about other places, but from what I've heard from moms is that the little girls bring their American girl dolls to their dance classes. And this is the perfect outfit to dress your doll in. This was made from a pattern from Doll Tag doll patterns. It has a one piece leotard and a cute little tulle tutu. I made my leotard from black spandex material mainly because I could not find any light pink spandex. I also made a pair of white tights. I don't have any pictures of the tights yet but I will post them tomorrow. I made the tights using a pattern from Hannah's Closet.  And of course the whole outfit will soon be available on my Etsy website store.
Happy dancing!

Off Days

I rolled her hair with rags.
Have you ever had an "off" day? Well, I've certainly had mine today. My allergies have been acting up so I haven't been feeling exactly myself. I think when you have one of those days you should just not even begin any projects such as sewing. My nose has been dripping like a faucet and I'm coughing with almost every breath. I made a blue jean skirt and it turned out alright but when I started to make a tank top out of a recycled top, everything started to go wrong. First of all, I forgot to change my needle from denim to a stretch needle. The denim needle left big holes in the fabric. Then I sewed up the back instead of sewing up the side seam. I had to pick the whole mess out which left big holes in it. Then finally I sewed the Velcro on but I sewed both pieces to the inside! So needless to say, this shirt will be donated to Emily! Oh well, at least I didn't spend a lot of money on it. The top used to be my daughter's.
Oh well, her hair looks great!

It looks good but there are lots of mess ups!

Latest Work

Well last weekend I had a 3 day weekend and I was able to get a little sewing done. I made another pink party dress and this time I made a tote bag to go with it. I also made one with ruffles on it to go with the brown summer dress. I've got some others cut out and I'll do those this weekend. I think that they turned out really cute. I also made a clothes rack out of PVC pipes to hang my doll clothes that I make. This will come in real handy when I have my craftshow this December. I'm hoping to do a craftshow in Sanger, TX this year. So in order to get ready for it, I'm going to be pretty busy this summer!

Recycling Clothes

Last night I found a shirt that my daughter had outgrown. We were going to put it in our yardsale that we are going to have in May, but when I looked at it again I thought that I could possibly use it for something. I found a free pattern that I got from Liberty Jane patterns. It is the tank top pattern. So I cut it up and cut the pattern pieces out. The front of the top has a pretty design on it and I didn't know exactly how it would work out. But I got it done and it turned out so cute. Now of course I can't really sell this since the top was Emily's but I just wanted to show you how you can take something and recycle it to make a great outfit for your dolls.

Fabric Yo-Yo's - How to Make a Fabric Yo-Yo

This is a great video about how to make fabric yo-yo's. There are just so many things that you can do with these. I'm thinking about using these to decorate headbands or hairclips.

Made it Monday

I didn't get much sewing done over the weekend because as you've seen in the other posts, I worked on my new sewing room. And on Sunday I got to use it! I made this cute little outfit from the Sweet Tea Summer dress pattern. I used a red bandana print for the bodice and ruffle on the bottom and a blue floral print for the dress. I've ordered her some cowboy boots to go with it. I think that she'll look like a real rodeo queen!

Moving Day

Well, I haven't done much sewing today. Hopefully I'll get some done tomorrow in my new shop! I have moved my sewing area from my bedroom to the enclosed porch area that we use as a playroom for my daughter. She doesn't play there too much anymore so I thought that it would be a great place for me to do my sewing. But before I could get set up, I needed to move a few things out of there. My daughter had a tent that she doesn't play with anymore and a kitchen set that will be for sale in our garage sale in the spring. My husband bought a table for me. And I bought a shelving unit at Walmart. I would like to put some kind of decorations on the wall or something. But for now I finally have a place to sew!

Now I have a shelf and machines are added.

Sewing Shop

I have moved my sewing machine from my bedroom to our enclosed porch area. It was used as an office by Tim's dad and then when we moved into his house, we made a playroom out of it. Our daughter still has her toys in there but she's getting older so she doesn't really play in there as much as she used to. When I got my serger in, I wanted a place that I could make into a sewing room. The only place that we could think of was the room that we use as Emily's playroom. It's not much to look at right now but we are going to get some shelves to put my supplies and we've gotten a table to put my machine and serger on. I am going to have to share the room with Emily because she's not giving up her toys so easily yet. But some of her things will have to be rearranged to make room for my sewing stuff.

Make it Monday

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Easter. I know that I did. And the long weekend gave me an opportunity to get a couple of great outfits done. I probably would have done more but you know there comes a time when you've just got to spend some quality time with your family.

But I want to tell you what I made over the weekend. I made a pair of cute little pair of  blue jeans from a Liberty Jane pattern. The little details in this pattern is what makes them so cute. And there is so much room for creativity in it. I did the pockets plain with just basic topstitching but I'm thinking about adding some trim to it the next time. I think that adding some lace to the pockets would be really cute.

And then the other outfit that I did was another pattern from Kotton Candy doll fashions. I made the Sweet Tea Summer dress. I picked out two coordinating materials. For the bodice, shoulder straps and the ruffle, I picked out a piece of cotton material with blue circles and stars on a brown background. And for the dress part, I picked out a floral print with pink, blue, and brown flowers on a off white background. I also accented the bodice with two pink heart buttons.

And of course all of these items are available for sale on my Etsy shop. Except the doll of course!
